Hate Speech and Harassment Policy

Townmag.co is a safe community for anyone to share their story without fear of hate speech, discrimination, and/or harassment. Our platform works best when community members can connect in pure honesty and empathy. We don’t allow hate speech or harassment in the townmag.co community. We believe that it creates an environment of intimidation and exclusion, and in some cases may promote offline violence.

We define hate speech as a direct attack against people on the basis of protected characteristics: race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, religious affiliation, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, age, occupation, immigration status, refugee status, asylum status, and serious disease. We define attacks as violent or dehumanizing speech, harmful stereotypes, statements of inferiority, expressions of contempt, disgust or dismissal, cursing, and calls for exclusion or segregation.

We monitor all submitted stories, social media posts and comments. We will not publish stories that violate this policy and we will remove and report comments that violate this policy on social media. We will investigate any reports to us about any sort of hate speech or harassment. We will continue to evolve this policy as our platform grows.
